Joe is currently third trumpet / assistant principal in the Norwalk Symphony Orchestra (since 2021), principal trumpet of The Chappaqua Orchestra (2016-2021), and has held similar positions in countless local ensembles. During his tenure in the NSO, Joe has performed many of his favorite works, including Stravinsky’s “Rite of Spring”, Mahler’s 3rd and 5th symphonies, and Verdi’s “Requiem”. On occasion, Joe has been invited to utilize his versatility by playing lead on some of the ‘jazzier’ selections, such as Bernstein’s “On the Town”, Ellington’s “Harlem”, as well as a program of Dave Brubeck’s music (featuring his sons as the jazz combo).
Joe’s time in the recording studio has generated several singles and albums for a number of independent artists, in addition to an off-Broadway cast recording. Although he doesn’t consider himself a songwriter, Joe composed, performed, and produced the theme song and underscore for a short-form YouTube sitcom which was recently renewed for a second season and holiday special. You may have already heard Joe play in the orchestra pit at musical theatre performances all over Westchester and Fairfield counties. Some of his favorite musicals to play (in no particular order) are “West Side Story”, “Frozen”, “Legally Blonde”, “South Pacific”, “In the Heights”, “Anything Goes”, “A Chorus Line”, “Chicago”, and Andrew Lippa’s “Wild Party”.
