Larry loved his family and he loved music. For over a decade he was a familiar presence at the Music Conservatory of Westchester as a parent and as a Board member. He loved talking to people –other parents, students, faculty and staff – while Patrick and Bessie were in their lessons and ensembles.  MCW was like a second home.

Larry loved helping people. As a Board member, he wanted to make sure every student could fulfill their musical dreams, regardless of their family’s financial means.  And he unfailingly delighted hungry students with pizza lunches on Saturdays.

Together with Judith, Patrick and Bessie, the Music Conservatory established the Larry Slattery Honors Scholarship Fund in May 2022 and began funding the first recipient in spring 2023, providing tuition assistance for dedicated, accomplished students in the school’s Honors Program.

A celebration of Larry’s life and legacy was held on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at the Music Conservatory of Westchester, where attendees filled the recital hall to share their cherished memories of Larry.
