Jaana Narsipur is a jazz vocalist and bandleader who has performed at venues in Chicago, Amsterdam NL, and throughout NYC and Westchester. She released her debut album, “Better Than Anything”, in 2022 which features her original arrangements of legendary jazz composers Bob Dorough and Horace Silver’s songs. Jaana has studied privately with jazz legend Sheila Jordan, and renowned vocalists Jackie Allen and JD Walter. Jaana brings her knowledge and experience as a performer to the teaching studio, helping students develop their confidence and stage presence. She has experience with a diverse repertoire of genres and songs – ranging from classical art songs to musical theater, pop and R&B, to the classic jazz songbooks and standards.

Jaana is a New York state certified teacher who has worked for over 10 years with students in K-12 schools teaching vocal and choral music, individual and group piano, music theory and history. She has coached vocal students for NYSSMA and All State, and conducted choral ensembles for Grades 3-5 and Grades 6-9. In 2024, Jaana conducted 75 students in the All County Junior High Chorus for the Putnam County Music Educators Association. Recently, Jaana became certified in Levels 1 and 2 of Somatic Voicework™, a highly effective method of vocal training for musical theater, pop, rock, country, etc.

I always tailor lessons to a student’s personal goals and interests – whether a student is a beginner just starting to sing, an experienced teen looking for performance and audition prep, or an adult pursuing their lifelong love of music. My goal as a voice teacher is to create healthy, strong voices whilst encouraging confidence and a natural stage presence. I teach all genres including classical, musical theater, pop, jazz, hip-hop and many others.
