
Steve Mansfield

Steve Mansfield has been working as a professional musician since 1990. He has performed all over the northeastern United States, and especially in the New York City area. Steve has performed at numerous music festivals and toured Europe. His playing encompasses a wide range of musical styles including funk, rock, blues, Afro-Cuban, Caribbean, big band, small group jazz, and world music.
Steve’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Music in jazz performance from New York University, studies at The Drummer Collective NYC, as well as personal instruction from some of the world’s finest instructors including: John Riley, Adam Nussbaum, Kim Plainfield, Frankie Malabe Warren Odze, Arthur Lipner, Pete Abbott, Jim Mola, Sherrie Miracle, Bill Cerulli, and bassist Mike Richmond.

Performances & Distinctions
Steve has been teaching music since 1988. His students have received college scholarships, won regional competitions, and ranked high in national competition. Currently, he is teaching both private and group lessons. He performs regularly with numerous groups, and freelances in the New York metro area.
In 2001 Cherry Lane published Steve’s book titled 1001 Drum Grooves: The Complete Resource for Every Drummer. The book covers a wide range of playing styles and has sold tens of thousands of copies worldwide.
