Virtual Summer Programs

While we can’t spend summer together in-person, we can still enjoy and learn music together!

 

This summer, the Music Conservatory of Westchester is offering kids grades K-7 a new, online experience with fun, interactive classes to spark their interest in the visual and performing arts!

 

From the safety and comfort of your own homes, kids can experiment with music, learn to play instruments, write songs, create art, sing, dance, and perform musical theatre scenes and songs with the Conservatory’s expert, world-class faculty.
• A flexible, a la carte schedule (choose the class(es) in which your child will participate)
• Interactive, activity-based classes to keep children engaged
• Variety of creative topics and activities
• Faculty with extensive remote teaching experience
• Beginners welcome!

Classes on Monday/Wednesday

Beginner Group Guitar (Grades 1-3)

Time: 9:00 – 9:45am

Is guitar right for you? Find out in this friendly introductory class taught by our experienced faculty. Students play melodies, are introduced to chords, and enjoy learning the variety of possibilities the guitar offers.

Beginner Group Piano (Grades 1-3)

Time: 9:00 – 9:45am

Explore one of the world’s most universal instruments and make your own music in this introductory piano experience. Families without an instrument at home will be provided affordable keyboard recommendations.

Musical Theatre Workshop (Grades 4-7)

Time: 9:00 – 9:45am

Stay connected with your love of musicals and join this workshop to have fun practicing your stage skills. Learn classic shows and songs, and unleash your inner actor with a host of script-based and improv activities.

Creative Movement (Grades 1-3)

Time: 10:00 – 10:45am

Energize your morning in this fun and active movement class for young children at home. Learn the coolest dance moves, think creatively with improvisation, and participate in movement games and activities.

Recorder (Grades 3-7)

Time: 10:00 – 10:45am

Students interested in learning a wind instrument get can get their start on the recorder, an ancient, simple, and beautiful instrument. As you learn note positions, you’ll practice reading music, playing duets, and controlling your breathing.

Violin Skills (Grades 3-7)

Time: 10:00 – 10:45am

Violinists! Keep up with your playing this summer and join our Music & Arts violin teacher in this group experience. Students learn new repertoire, practice with pre-recorded accompaniment, get more comfortable with their technique, and receive personalized feedback. Some fundamentals required.

Singers in Training (Grades 4-7)

Time: 10:00 – 10:45am

It’s a great time to perfect your vocal technique and learn all about your most natural instrument. Students will use accompaniment tracks, practice reading and singing parts, and learn classic repertoire with our vocal teaching artists.

Fascinating Rhythm (Grades 4-7)

Time: 10:00 – 10:45am

Rhythm is a key ingredient to making music, as equally important as harmony and melody. This class will explore fun ways to develop your internal sense of time and pulse. Activities including interactive music games, call/response activities, creative ways to use a metronome, and more. Open to grades 4-7 on all instruments.

Think you have a good idea for a song? Discover how famous songs are composed and learn how to write your own. Receive helpful feedback from our teachers as you create lyrics, melodies, and chords.

Experience the joy of music in this engaging class, led by our early-childhood music educators. Students will participate by listening, moving, singing, and using percussion homemade instruments.

Art: Drawing & Painting (Grades 1-3)

Time: 9:00 – 9:45am

Sharpen your drawing and painting abilities while you explore new techniques with our experienced visual arts teacher. With limited supplies needed, this course offers easy and creative at-home activities while learning valuable skills and techniques. Students will have the opportunity to share their work with peers, receive helpful feedback and hopefully be inspired to continue creating even after the lesson ends.

Dance Styles (Grades 4-7)

Around the world, music and dance are inseparable arts forms. Learn steps and moves to a variety of dance styles from various cultures and trends, using music as your guide. Students will need enough space to move safely in front of the monitor.
